‘bi as in twice’ by L Sparrow

I’m half-man, on my dad’s side — maybe my mom’s. She told me as a kid she always wanted to play Peter, never Wendy, so I thought it wasn’t weird when I jumped at the chance to be the Spider-Man, the Legolas, never Mary-Jane or Arwen.

I’m half-woman on mom’s side, maybe dad’s? He taught me to cook, to sing lullabies, to clean wounds. Bloody work always seems to be woman’s work, but I faint at the sight of my underwear once a month.

I’m half-something on every side. Bi-gender is more like once every two rather than twice every one.
