‘Retransition, Baby’ by Nat Buchbinder

The second piece in our brand new EUPHORIA series is ‘Retransition, Baby’ by Nat Buchbinder.

Retransition, Baby

I just bought this skirt. It’s indigo, embroidered cornflowers. When spring returns, I’ll wear it in Prospect Park, and on the L, at Joe Junior’s and on the sidewalk where men spit at me.

I grew this beard for five years. Soft, curly, it ends where scars cut across my chest.  I thought that first injection was the end of embroidered flowers.  The last injection, for now, was in autumn.  The skirt arrived on a snowy day, wrapped in brown paper.

I stopped testosterone to grow a new person with my body.  I can create; I am always creating myself.
