Artist statement

In my work I am really focused on developing an artistic language around queer ancestry and identity. This piece is focused on the loneliness and external mudiness of exploring and coming into a new form of self-hood. 

About the artist

Izzy Spiess is a undergrad student studying acting at the U of MN. They love painting, drawing and collaging on queer themes: particularly queer ancestry and connection. Izzy is inspired by the origin of love (greek myth), the origin of love (hedwig and the angry inch song) and, the origin of love (queer ancestry). They love acrylic paint, cardboard, and getting library books mailed to their house.
