Jericho Brown Asked to Read my [Duplex], but This is More of an Apartment
I ask you to follow me for just a couple moments.
I don’t dream of the end, but I do of being done.
I dream of resting, but I don’t mean dying.
To die is to be left to the living to remember.
To remember requires people to want to build a future.
To build a future we must first dance our steps of liberation.
Our steps must be a mix of Cumbia, Dakbe, and Bata.
Our movements will create the end of what we want to be done with.
That which we want to be done with is having to sway for others.
To sway for others is to create unnecessary calluses.
The calluses I have inherited are more than enough.
What I have inherited I will pass on to my descendants.
What I pass down to my descendants will be my footwork,
just take a moment to take a couple steps.
